Beaufort County Instructional Coaches are trained in Diane Sweeney’s “Student-Centered Coaching” model that focuses on data-driven decision making. We collaborate with teachers, analyze data, facilitate professional learning, and partner with Administrators - all with a focus on student learning success.

Dr. Lana Bates:

I am originally from Ohio and have an Elementary Education degree from Ohio University. I have a Master’s in Reading and earned a Doctorate in Reading, both from Walden University. I am Read to Succeed certified as a Teacher, Coach, and Specialist. Reading is my “jam,” and I am passionate about providing students with every opportunity to become lifelong readers and writers. I am so happy to be the Reading Coach in the Nest!

Mrs. Amy Fleury:

I am originally from Pennsylvania but have lived in the Bluffton/Hilton Head Area for 20 years.  I hold an undergraduate degree in Hospitality and Business from Lebanon Valley College, and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education (University of South Carolina) and Administration (The Citadel). I am a highly certified teacher with Gifted and Talented and Read to Succeed endorsements. My role in the Nest is to serve as the Numeracy Coach, and I am passionate about finding ways to motivate students and make learning both fun and valuable.
