What's Happening
- Our Book Vending Machine has been AMAZING! EVERY student in the school earned a book in our first year, along with many teachers and parents; even a few former OWLS who came back for their senior walk.
- we are always working on new ways to engage students, staff and families to read.
- Our Fall Book Fair will be poppin' at the Carnival, in August.
- Our Spring Book Fair will be PAWsatively Pawsome and will be leading right up to Spring Break.
- The Ghost Pirates OES Family Night is a fundraiser through the library to raise money to bring in authors to the school.
- The Svannah Bananas OES Family Night is a fundraiser through the library to raise money to bring in authors to the school (due to the popularity of the Bananas this is not a garanteed Family Night anymore - we'll keep you posted!).
Library Challenges
International Dot Day in September Students will be able to design their own shirt to wear.
October will be a chance for students, parents, teachers, and families to disguise a pumpkin as a book character.
When we get back from winter break the library challenge will be for 3rd, 4th, 5th graders. Students will be invited to design a bookmark for one of the Children's Book Nominees. Parents will need to sign off on the challenge.
In class, students will be working on the state challenge for the picture book/children's book trailer videos (grades 3-5). Some students/groups might continue their work at home.
Coding with stickers! The library has a mystery poster in the room. Patrons have to use the legend to help color/ABC code the stickers to help make the mystery image appear.
Interactive boards. Throughout the year there are interactive bulletin boards outside the library. Students, staff and parents are invited to participate. Sometimes they are a game, sometimes they are filling out a paper to point.
