Brenda Blue of Pritchardville Elementary School has been named the District Principal of the Year. Cassandra Ryman of Hilton Head Island Elementary IB School has been named the District Assistant Principal of the Year.
 

“Every exceptional district has strong school leaders, and I’m excited to see this superb educator be successful in her new role,” Rodriguez said. “She’s experienced and understands the importance of creating a district and school culture of moving academic achievement and ensuring our students succeed.”

 
All BCSD teachers will receive a $2,500 increase, in addition to a state-mandated step increase, and the teacher salary schedule will be expanded to a maximum step of 31. These changes are designed to strengthen BCSD’s ability to attract high-quality teachers and retain experienced educators who support student achievement.

Pritchardville Elementary is one of only three schools statewide selected for this recognition, joining Blue Ridge High School in Greenville County and Lugoff-Elgin Middle School in Kershaw County.
 

The approved budget is fully funded with projected revenues of $395.3 million and does not include a millage increase, reflecting a fiscally responsible approach while still making significant investments in staff and student needs.

The Beaufort County School District, in partnership with presenting sponsor Tanger and other community organizations, will host its annual Back-to-School Expo to help students and families prepare for the upcoming 2026–27 school year.

Beaufort County School District (BCSD) marked a significant milestone in its commitment to modern, future-ready learning environments with two groundbreaking ceremonies held Friday, May 22, for Lady’s Island Middle School and the Beaufort High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) building.

Justin Vaugh will be the new principal at Red Cedar Elementary and Dr. Staci Souhan will be the new principal at Hilton Head Island School for the Creative Arts. 

“Being selected by colleagues is one of the highest honors in our profession,” said Superintendent Frank Rodriguez. “These teachers and support staff represent the very best of Beaufort County School District. Their passion, professionalism, and care for students and schools make a lasting difference every single day, and we are proud to celebrate them.”

BCSD seasoned administrator Renee Roberts has been selected as the new Broad River Elementary School principal.  

“This program is designed to inspire independence and academic growth while nurturing the whole child in a developmentally appropriate environment,” said Ashley Gould, BCSD Director of Readiness. 

“While much changed over Mrs. Moody’s 26 years at Bluffton Elementary, her dedication, resourcefulness, and passion for the library never did. Her legacy is one that will continue to inspire students and uplift the entire staff," Principal Dr. Brandi Bullock said,

“We’re exceptionally proud of what these outstanding seniors have accomplished during their high school years, and we’re confident their successes will continue into the future,” said Superintendent Frank Rodriguez.

The students and their parents were recognized at a Junior Scholars banquet held Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Bluffton High School.
