Dr. Rodriguez will be recognized throughout the year for his accomplishments. Moseley Architects supports this award by providing a scholarship to the winner to be used to assist a student or teacher with professional development or college courses.

Parents stop by the book fair while you are here for the Bar-B-Q lunch on Friday.  It will be open in the library before or after lunch.

Also, we are having a fun photo challenge.  Either take a picture at the photo booth or using an app that has cat or dog filters.  Send photos to siobhan.mccann@beaufort.k12.sc.us to be shared and a chance to win a $10 book fair certificate.  Send in by Wednesday, April 10th.

This year Okatie Elementary School is participating with Bluffton Self help and the Giving Hand of Bluffton to help our community with a Toy Drive in memory of Aliana Evans, a former teacher here at Okatie Elementary school. Please help us collect toys for children in our community to have a happy holiday season. We will be collecting toys from Nov 6-Dec 6.

REMINDER! Pumpkins disguised as age appropriate book characters are due Monday and Tuesday. Each entry must be turned in with the submission form. Voting will begin next week. 🥸🎃🥸

Please make sure pumpkins are age appropriate. They should be of book characters from age appropriate (elementary aged) books. Students aged 4+ will be coming in to look at all of the pumpkins.

Darby Kinsey, Battery Creek High School Class of 2023, was unanimously selected as the inaugural recipient of the Pat Conroy’s Literary Center’s Future Educator Scholarship and awarded the prestigious Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA) South Carolina Teaching Fellowship. **All Students** and parents - listen to this - Bluffton Middle SchoolH.E. McCracken Middle School, and River Ridge Academy band programs are teaming up to host a **Be Part of the Band Night** at 6 pm on Tuesday, April 18th in the Bluffton Middle School gymnasium. This is open to any 5th grade students in the Bluffton area, **regardless of what school they are attending next year.**

Come on out! Students will be able to try the instruments they've always wanted to play. Now's the chance to **be part of the band**

Our annual Young Astronauts’ Egg Drop Survivors. The goal was to create a protective housing for an egg that could survive a drop when thrown from a tall height. The student’s designs keep getting better and better. So many survivors! Congrats Young Astronauts!

SC state fair information

All Day Military Appreciation Day at the State Fair will be held on October 13, 17 & 20. Active and retired military and their dependents (with proper military identification cards) will be admitted FREE.  Dependent children 14 years old and older must present ID.

Okatie offers a program that runs any day students are in school for the whole day. It will begin September 6th. Pick up is no later than 5:15pm. More information will be available at Open House on the 12th

The candidates were the top choices of committees made up of teachers, principals, executive directors, School Improvement Council members, and representatives of the district’s Instructional Services Division. The high school interview committee also included a student.
